The Gift of the Spirit

For the one whom God sent speaks the words of God. He does not ration his gift of the Spirit. – John 3:34

“He does not ration his gift of the Spirit.”

I love that. God does not “ration” the Spirit. God does not hold anything back. He gives us His all. He gives us the full measure of Himself.

The question is – do we accept all of His graces? Or are we afraid?

And if we are afraid, why?

Many years ago, I started attending a charismatic group started by a new priest at our church. I was a little afraid of it at first, but it didn’t take long to love it and feel at home there.

And the new priest became my spiritual director.

Jesus, thank you for the graces you give me. Help me to let go of any fear I may have and say Yes to all. Amen.

  1. Colleen, have you seen a mass on Pentecost when they shower the attendees with red rose petals at the end? My online parish did that today and said it was an ancient custom. Very moving.
