Monday, February 15
Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18; Matthew 25:31-46
“Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and did not minister to your needs?'” Mt 25:44
Do I always see Jesus in those around me? Who have I fed?
Lord, I know you are always there, but sometimes I fail to recognize you in my neighbor. Help me to better see your presence in those around me. Help me to treat all people as if they were you.
Tuesday, February 16
Isaiah 55:10-11; Matthew 6:7-15
“and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” Mt 6:12
Jesus tells us that we will be forgiven as we forgive others. What unforgiveness do I hold on to and need to let go?
Lord, sometimes I find it very hard to forgive those who hurt me. Grant me the wisdom to see where I need to grant forgiveness, and the courage to do so. For I do understand that as forgive others I will in turn be forgiven.
Wednesday, February 17
Jonah 3:1-10; Luke 11:29-32
Do my words help or hinder in bringing people to God?
Lord, I speak so much and yet say so little. Help me to speak in such a way to bring people to you. Grant me the wisdom to know the right words and the courage to use those words when called upon. May I always influence others toward you.
Thursday, February 18
Esther C:12, 14-16, 23-25; Matthew 7:7-12
“… how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.”
What “good things” do I wish to ask God for today? Do I have confidence that God will answer my prayer?
Lord, there is so much I need. Help me to choose which is most important to help my relationship with you. Grant me the courage to seek that most important need and the patience to place all other needs aside for the time being.
Friday, February 19
Ezekiel 18:21-28; Matthew 5:20-26
Who do I need to forgive today? Am I able to do that?
Lord, help me to let my anger go. Help me to forgive and to reconcile with those I am angry with. Grant me the wisdom and the courage that I need.
