Acts 6:8-15; John 6:22-29

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”  – John 22:29

How have I answered Jesus’ invitation to believe?

Lord, I have received your invitation. I want to share in the work of God. Help me to understand how I may best do this. Grant me the fortitude to step up and begin this work. Never let me neglect my responsibility in this area.

Tues., April 12, 2016

Acts 7:51-8:1a; John 6:30-35

So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” – John 6:34

What hungers within me can only Jesus satisfy?

Lord, I hunger for so much. Help me to see that which you alone can satisfy. Grant me the wisdom to discern my needs that you alone can satisfy and the courage to allow you to do so. For only through you may I be satisfied completely.

Wed., April 13, 2016

Acts 8:1b-8; John 6:35-40

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” – John 6:35

Only Jesus can fill me. How has Jesus satisfied my longing for him?

Lord, help me to understand how you are working in my life. I know you are always working to satisfy all that I need. Grant me the wisdom to know when you are working and the attitude of gratitude for your constant work in my life.

Thurs., April 14, 2016

Acts 8:26-40; John 6:44-51

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. – John 6:44

We need help to travel on the spiritual journey. Who has been my most helpful spiritual guide?

Lord, you send many into my life to help guide me. Help me to see who has been most influential to my spiritual being. Never allow me to turn my back on anyone who you send to help guide me.

Fri., April 15, 2016

Acts 9:1-20; John 6:52-59

For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.  – John 6:55

Jesus told us that unless we eat his flesh and drink his blood we will not have eternal life. Do I partake of the Eucharist regularly and as frequently as possible?

Lord, you have left us with the marvelous gift of your body and blood. Help me to grow in appreciation of the gift. Help me to grow in a greater adoration of your body and blood in the Eucharist.
