One Day At A Time

I spent the day with one of my sons and his family. It was a good day. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter and I had gone to see a stage production of “Grease” the night before. So we decided to watch the movie today. We all enjoyed it immensely.

I went to Mass this morning with my youngest son and his daughter. She seems to enjoy going to church. She does so well at Mass. We try to sit in the front pew so she can see everything going on.

Spending time with family can certainly help take away some of the pain of loss. Sometimes I prefer to be alone and grieve and cry. But other times I need to be with people I love and who love me. I then feel less lonely. And it distracts me a little from the inner pain. I so enjoy seeing my grandchildren. I imagine Rich is smiling down at us, watching us together.

This week, I will attend my first Bereavement Support group meeting. I am nervous and looking forward to it at the same time. It will be good to share. It will be good to be with people who are in the same boat. We are all grieving. It is both comforting and healing to be with people who know how we feel. No explanation necessary. No need to rush the healing process.

Just taking one day at a time.
