St. Athanasius

Acts 16:11-15; John 15:26 – 16:4a

“When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me.” – John 15:26

How have I experienced the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life?

Lord, I know that you have sent the Holy Spirit to assist me in my walk with you. Help me to understand how the Spirit is moving in my life and what I must do to move along with the Spirit. Grant me the wisdom to always follow the movement of the Spirit.

St. Philip and St. James

1 Corinthians 15:1-8; John 14:6-14

“If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. ” – John 14:14

Jesus tells us that whatever we ask of his name will be granted. What am I asking Jesus to do in my life today?

Lord, I have so many needs. Help me to see those that will help to bring me closer to you. Grant me the understanding to see my most pressing needs and the grace to accept your wishes in those matters.

Acts 17:15, 22-18:1; John 16:12-15

“But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming.” – John 16:13

Jesus tells his disciples that the Spirit will guide them to all truth. Are we open to the Spirit’s guidance?

Lord, help me to be open to the Holy Spirit and to trust in the Spirit’s guidance. Help me to recognize your presence in my everyday life and to reveal you to others.

Acts 18:1-8; John 16:16-20

“Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.” – John 16:20

Have I experienced grief turning to joy in my own life? When? How?

Lord, there have been times when grief has overcome me. It was only through my faith in you that I was able to turn that horrible grief into joy. Stay with me and never allow any grief to overcome me. May I always remain in your joy.

Acts 18:9-18; John 16:20-23

“Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.” – John 16:23

Jesus tells us that whatever we ask in his name will be given to us. Do I truly believe what Jesus has said? Do I trust that if I ask I will receive?

Lord, help my weak faith. It is hard for me to believe that you will grant my desire. Grant me the courage to ask in your name and the faith that it will be granted.
