1 Pt 1:3-9; Mark 10:17-27

Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God.” Mk 10:27

Jesus reminds us that all things are possible with God. What “impossible” thing do I most need God’s help with today?

Lord, there are so many things that I need your help with. Help me to see which one is most important for my salvation. Grant me this knowledge and also the courage to do whatever is necessary to accomplish this “impossible” task.

1 Pt 1:10-16; Mark 10:28-31

Peter began to say to Jesus, “We have given up everything and followed you.” – Mk 10:28

Jesus tells Peter that whatever we give up for his sake will be repaid plentifully. What do I need to give up in order to be a better follower of Jesus?

Lord, there are many things that get in the way of my following you. Help me to discern what I must surrender for your sake. Grant me the courage to let go of whatever is necessary to be a better follower of you.

1 Pt 1:18-25; Mk 10:32-45

“… whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.” – Mk 10:43-45

What service do I need to do for others in the name of Jesus?

Lord, there are many things I can do for others. Help me to see those areas where you most want me to be of service to others. Grant me the courage to become a servant to others in your name.

St. Philip Neri, priest

 1 Pt 2:2-5; 9-12; Mk 10:46-52

Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way. – Mk 10:52

Bartimaeus continued to call out to Jesus even when others tried to silence him. What problems do I continue to call out to Jesus for help with?

Lord, there are many ways that I need your help. Show me the one way that I most need your help in order to become a better follower. Grant me this knowledge and the courage to do what I must to attain your help.

 1 Pt 4:7-13; Mk 11:11-26

Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. – Mk 11:24

In what areas of my life do I need to have a greater faith in God?

Lord, I do trust you, however there are still times when I think I can handle my problems alone. Help me to realize that you will be of great help if I were to just ask. Grant me the wisdom to know when to bring my problems to your attention.
