Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

2 Thessalonians 1:1-5, 11-12; Matthew 23:13-22

You blind ones, which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? – Mt 23:19

Jesus warns us against hypocrisy. Do I always do as I say?

Lord, I am a weak human. I have trouble at times acting on your teachings. Help me to never act in a way that is contrary to the gospel that I proclaim. By my actions help me to bring others to your love.

Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean. – Mt 23:26

Am I guided by mercy in my everyday life?

Lord, there is so much going on in my life that I sometimes have trouble keeping my priorities straight. Help me to get them straight and to see the world around me through the eyes of mercy. Help me to live my life the way you wish it to be.

But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” – John 1:46

Nathanael is invited to come and see Jesus. What do I need to do in my life to better see Jesus?

Lord, help me to better prepare myself to come and see you. I know you are always waiting for me, but sometimes I get too involved in worldly matters to spend time seeking you. Grant me the strength to always seek you in all that I do.

Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. – Mt 24:42

Jesus encourages us to stay alert for the Lord to break into our lives. What can I do to be more alert for the presence of God in my life?

Lord, help me to see your presence in my life. Grant me the grace to understand what you are doing in my life and the courage to cooperate with you in what you wish to do. Never let me ignore your presence in my life.

Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour. – Mt 25:13

The wise virgins brought extra oil for their lamps. What do I need to add to my life to be prepared for the final arrival?

Lord, help me to know what is lacking in my life so that I may be better prepared for your coming. Help me to gain what I am missing and to always be prepared for your arrival.
