Job 1:6-22; Luke 9:46-50

Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child and placed it by his side …Lk 9:47

Jesus tells us that the least in the eyes of man will be the greatest. How do I humble myself in the eyes of man?

Lord, sometimes I get an inflated impression of who I am in your eyes. Help me to remember to not seek the adoration of man but rather the admiration of you. Always remind me that the humblest in man’s eyes will be the greatest in your eyes.

When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them? Lk 9:54

Jesus did not want his disciples to punish the unwelcoming villagers. Have I been forgiving to those who do not welcome me?

Lord, you have showed us how we are to always be forgiving of those who wrong us. Help me to remember this important message of yours. Help me to never seek vengence.

Jb 9:1-12, 14-16; Lk 9:57-62

Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” Lk 9:58

How can I make a place in my life for Jesus to rest?

Lord, I wish to welcome you into my life to gain the needed rest. Help me to understand what I must do to build a place for your rest in my life. Grant me the wisdom to know what you need and the courage to act accordingly.

Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?* You will see greater things than this.” Jn 1:50

How can I, like an angel, be a messenger and open God’s world to others?

Lord, you have sent me out to do your will among the people of my time. Help me to understand your will and how I may best portray it to others. Grant me the courage to step forward to announce your word to the world.

Job 38:1, 12-21, 40:3-4; Lk 10:13-16

Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.” Lk 10:16

What signs of Jesus’ presence have I noticed recently?

Lord, there are signs of your presence all around me. Help me to better see and understand these signs. Grant me the vision to never overlook any signs of your presence in my life.
