Titus 1:1-9; Luke 17:1-6

Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. – Lk 17:3

Jesus encourages us to avoid doing wrong. What area do I most need help to avoid doing wrong?

Lord, I try so very hard to avoid doing wrong. It is a hard task. Help me to make the right choices in my life. Help me to set a good example to others.

Titus 2:1-8, 11-14; Luke 17:7-10

So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do. – Luke 17:

In what ways can I serve Jesus today?

Lord, I wish to serve you in all ways. Please help me to see where I fail to serve you and show me what I must do to be your faithful servant. Grant me the courage to make whatever changes I must to better serve you.

Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome

Ezekiel 47:1-2, 8-9, 12; 1 Corinthians 3-9c-11, 16-17; John 2:13-22

Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” – John 2:19

We are God’s temple, and Jesus shows us that we need to drive out evil from within us. What may be out of place in my temple that I need to drive out?

Lord, help me to see those things that do not belong in the temple of my body. Grant me the knowledge to understand what they are and the courage to drive them out. I so want this temple to be kept pristine for you.

For behold, the kingdom of God is among you. – Luke 17:21b

When have I most experienced God’s presence in my life recently?

Lord, I know you are always present to me. Help me to become much more aware of your perpetual presence. Show me the many ways you are with me day after day. Never allow me to take your presence for granted.

St. Martin of Tours, bishop

2 John 4-9; Luke 17:26-37

Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it. – Luke 17:33

Jesus tells us that if we surrender our life to him we will save our life. Have I completely surrendered my life to Jesus?

Lord, I want to surrender completely to you. I try to do so all the time. But I do not always succeed. Help me to give up all for your name. In surrendering all I know I will gain everything through you.
