What do I need to do have a deeper relationship with God?

Then he said to them, “The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.” – Mk 2:27-28
Do I observe the Sabbath properly? Aside from attending church, do I remember the Lord on his day? Or do I go about as usual not taking the rest the Lord told us to take on the Sabbath?
Lord, help me to observe your day properly. Do not allow me to be so caught up in the things of this world that I neglect those of the next.

What price am I willing to pay for helping others?
Lord, there are times when I must suffer in order to help others. Grant me the wisdom to know when I must do so and the courage to endure whatever consequences develop. Strengthen me in my resolve to help others.

He warned them sternly not to make him known. – Mk 3:12
Jesus refused to allow evil spirits to make him known. How has Jesus been inviting me to make him known?
Lord, help me to understand the tasks that you have for me. Give me the knowledge to identify these tasks and the courage to follow through in performing them. It is my job to help make you known to the world.

He appointed twelve [whom he also named apostles] that they might be with him and he might send them forth to preach … Mk 3:14
Am I spending enough time with Jesus before doing his work?
Lord, there is a lot of work I can do in your name. Help me to remember that I must first spend time with you to strengthen me for the work ahead. Never allow me to think that I can do it myself.
