St. Paul Miki and Companions, martyrs
Genesis 1: 1-19; Mark 6: 53-56
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed. – Mk 6:56
What do I want Jesus to heal in me?
Lord, there are so many places that I need your healing touch. Help me to discern those places that are most in need of your help. Grant me the strength to do whatever is necessary to gain your healing power on me.

Genesis 1:20 – 2:4a; Mark 7:1-13
He responded, “Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” – Mk 7:6
When do I allow my words to overshadow my actions?
Lord, I talk a great story, but frequently my words are flat and not matched by my actions. Help me to have the courage to speak the words you wish me to speak and to act on those words accordingly.

Genesis 2:4b-9, 15-17; Mark 7:14-23
“Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile.” – Mk 7:15
Jesus said that it is what is in our heart that defines what kind of person we are. What are our priorities? What is our treasure?
Lord, please transform me. Help me to remember that it’s what’s inside that matters. Help me to do what I need to do to change my heart.

They were exceedingly astonished and they said, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and [the] mute speak.” – Mk 7:37
What part of Jesus’ message do I have the most trouble hearing?
Lord, I listen to your teachings, but there are areas that I have trouble hearing. Help me to better hear and understand your message. Grant me a better understanding of what you are telling me. Cure my deafness to your message.
