Acts 4:23-31; John 3:1-8

Jesus answered and said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” – Jn 3:3

How have I felt the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life?

Lord, your spirit is always moving within my life. Help me to better understand where and why it is moving. Help me to be more receptive to the movement of the Holy Spirit.

St. Mark, Evangelist

1 Peter 5:5b-14; Mark 16:15-20

He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” – Mk 16:15

Jesus commands us to go out and preach his word to the whole world. How have I followed this command?

Lord, I do so wish to follow this command, but it is hard for me to speak so openly. Help me to have the strength to speak up when called upon to do so. Grant me the wisdom to know what to say and when to say it.

Wed., April 26, 2017

Acts 5:17-26; Jn 3:16-21

But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God. – Jn 3:21

Jesus is our light. What sometimes keeps me from seeking His light?

Lord, I am not proud of it, but there are times I prefer to remain in the darkness. Less is demanded of me in the darkness. Grant me the strength to always seek the light.

Thurs., April 27, 2017

Acts 5:27-33; John 3:31-36

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven [is above all]. – Jn 3:31

When does my faith most conflict with human rules?

Lord, I am surrounded with temptations to ignore you and give my allegiance to the material world. Help me to identify that which draws me away from you. Grant me the strength to turn away from temptation and turn to you.

Fri., April 28, 2017

Acts 5:34-42; John 6:1-15

Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted. – Jn 6:11

Jesus fed a large number of people with a minimum amount of food. Am I fully satisfied when Jesus feeds me with the Eucharist?

Lord, there are times that I think I am never satisfied, but when I receive you in the Eucharist, I feel fully and completely satisfied. Never allow me to forget the great gift you have given me in the Eucharist. Strengthen my faith in you.
