Genesis 19:15-29; Matthew 8:23-27

He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?” Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm. – Matthew 8:26

Jesus is always with us when we are afraid. When have I been afraid? When have I needed to call on Jesus for help?

Lord, there are so many areas that I need your help with; so many times that I am afraid. Please grant me the wisdom to recognize those areas and the courage to ask for and accept your help.

Genesis 21:5; 8-20a; Matthew 8:28-34

What good do I need to seek? What evil do I most need help in avoiding?

Lord, I try to always seek the good things in life, but sometimes the evil is more attractive to me. Help me to recognize what is evil and to avoid choosing it. Grant me the knowledge to know what is evil and what is good.

Thurs., July 6, 2017

Genesis 22:1b-19; Matthew 9:1-8

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Courage, child, your sins are forgiven.” – Mt 9:2

What sins do I need forgiveness for?

Lord, there is so much I need from you. Help me to see where I am in most need of healing both physically and spiritually. Send your healing and forgiving power into me and heal and forgive those areas that I am in most need of.

Fri., July 7, 2017

Genesis 23:1-4, 19; 24:1-8, 62-67; Matthew 9:9-1

As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. – Mt 9:9

How is Jesus calling me as I go about day at home and at work? Am I too busy to listen?

Lord, I know you are calling me, but there are times when I am just too busy to listen. Help me to be more attentive to your call and to be more faithful in following your call.
