Come, Let Us Adore Him

“When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.’ So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.” – Luke 2:15-16

The shepherds went in haste and found Mary and Joseph and the infant lying in the manger. They knelt before the newborn child and adored him.
What were they thinking? What did they understand?
Did they know who He was?
Do we?
Do we know who the Christ Child is?
Do we recognize Jesus in each other? Do we recognize Jesus in the Word? Do we recognize Him in the Eucharist?
Let us go to see this thing that has taken place.
Come, let us adore Him.

God, we thank you for the gift of your Son. May we never take him for granted. May we never lose the wonder of this day. May we worship and adore him every day of our lives. Amen.
