Help Me to Be Humble

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted. – Lk 14:11

Jesus invites us to a banquet. Do we accept the invitation? Do we invite others to join us at the banquet? Do we try to do as Jesus does? Or do we expect gifts or repayment?

Have you seen that in your parish? The struggles of people to become Father’s “favorite” parishioner? To be given the seat at the head of the table?

From today’s first reading – Humble yourself the more, the greater you are, and you will find mercy in the sight of God.  – Sirach 3:18

What does it mean to you to follow Jesus?

Dear Lord, help me to be humble. Help me to invite others to the banquet and to love as You love. – Amen.
