Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
“After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” Luke 5:4
Put out into the deep.
Scary thought. Especially if we think we have to do it all ourselves. But we don’t. Jesus is there with us, all the way.
Some things seem impossible. We just cannot believe that we can make it happen. That is our first mistake – thinking we are in charge.
I coordinate adoration ministry at my parish. Occasionally there will be an hour that seems impossible to fill. I put out the nets, asking for help, and someone always comes forward. Always.
I used to worry a lot about it but not any more. I have learned to trust in the Lord.
I have learned to put out into the deep.
Dear Lord, please help me to trust in you always and never fear. Help me to let go of any temptations I may have to think I am unworthy to do your will. Help me to hear your call Lord. Amen.
