27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” – Luke 17:5
The apostles ask Jesus for more faith and he tells the apostles that even if their faith was as small as a mustard seed, great things can happen. The amount of faith does not seem to be the issue.
I too sometimes think that if I have more faith, I can do more for God. Bear more fruit. But Jesus seems to be saying that we do not need to worry about such things.
We need only to believe. We need only to keep the faith and nourish it. Keep the faith and trust. Trust that God will use our faith and bear fruit. Trust that God can use our faith and move mulberry trees. And mountains (Mt 17:20).
It is not about how much faith we have. It is what we do with it.
Do we give it to the Lord?
Do we trust that God will move the mountain for us?
Lord, help me to trust in you with all my heart and soul. Help me to believe that you can take my little offering of faith and move mountains! Amen.
I may have misunderstood you but there is more to being a Christian (Catholic) Faith alone, it is not sufficient. It is Good works. Faith and Good works. Putting your Faith into Practice. I was once told by a person who had become a so called BORN AGAIN Christian , that we need to do nothing but believe in God as Jesus was Crucified for OUR sins ,so that was all o.k. and WE didn’t need to do anything except believe. I do hope that is NOT what you were implying! I await your response

Faith without Good Works??? I am hoping that is NOT what you are preaching! I did leave a longer comment ; apparently I misunderstood that you actually wanted people TO comment. I am hoping for a reply as if this is what you believe: that Faith alone is all we need , then you are misleading yourself as well as those to whom you are preaching(?) . Please tell me I have misunderstood you Colleen. God Bless. from Maggie

I do this from home and I work all day so I am unable to reply very quickly.
This was a personal reflection. I was not preaching anything. Only writing a reflection from my heart that people can pray with or not.
And perhaps you missed the line that said – it’s not how much faith you have but what you do with it. God bless.
