Acts 19:1-8; John 16:29-33

“I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” – John 16:33

Jesus told us that we should take courage because he has conquered the world. Has Jesus conquered my world?

Lord, I know you have conquered the entire world, but there are parts that still act as if they have never heard of you and your teachings. Help me to bring your presence to those parts of my world so that they also will know that you have conquered the entire world.

Acts 20:17-27; John 17:1-11a

“I revealed your name* to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. – John 17:6

Does my knowledge of Jesus grow constantly or has it stagnated?

Lord, I will never stop learning about you and your teachings. Just when I think I know enough, something new comes to mind. Help me to continually study your word so as to better understand your teachings.

The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Zephaniah 3:14-18a or Romans 12:9-16; Luke 1:39-56

And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.” – Luke 1:46

In her Magnificat, Mary proclaimed the greatness of God in her life. For what can I praise God today? How can I spend my time with God today?

Lord, help me to see your workings in my world. Grant me the insight to see you in my life and the courage to proclaim your presence. Never allow me to ignore your presence working in my world.

St. Justin, martyr

Acts 22:30, 23:6-11; John 17:20-26

“I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them.” – John 17:36

How has Jesus’ love for me most changed me?

Lord, my life changes every day due to your love of me. Help me to become more aware of these changes and to grow in appreciation of them. Never take your love from me and never let me take your love for granted.

Fri., June 2, 2017

Acts 25:13b-21; John 21:15-19

He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” – John 21:16

How frequently do I profess my love for Jesus?

Lord, I do love you very much, but I know I do not tell you frequently enough just how much I love you. Grant me the courage to constantly proclaim my love for you and the strength to do whatever is necessary to show that love.
