Sept. 5-8, 2017

Tues., September 5, 2017

1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, 9-11; Luke 4:31-37

They were all amazed and said to one another, “What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” – Lk 4:36

Jesus works in our lives everyday. What evil do I need Jesus to drive out of my life?

Lord, there are so many evils in my life. Help me to recognize those which I have any control over. Help me to see which ones are most damaging to me. Grant me the grace to accept your presence driving them out of my life.

Wed., September 6, 2017

Col 1:1-8; Luke 4:38-44

At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. – Lk 4:42

The crowd wanted Jesus to stay with them. What do I do to welcome Jesus into my life?

Lord, I so want your presence to always be in my life. Help me to eliminate that which separates us. Grant me the strength to eliminate all barriers. Please feel welcomed into my life always.

Thurs., September 7, 2017

Col 1:9-14; Luke 5:1-11

When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him. – Lk 5:11

What do I need to let go of to better follow Jesus? What are some of my attachments?

Lord, I have so much and I am so attached to it. Help me to see what holds me back in following you and grant me the courage to leave it behind. Nothing is so valuable that it should separate us.

Fri., September 8, 2017

Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Micah 5:1-4a or Romans 8:28-30; Matthew 1:1-16, 18-23

Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,”which means “God is with us.” – Mt 1:23

Do I notice how the Holy Spirit is working in my life? Do I have faith like Mary and say to the Lord – “Thy will be done”?

Lord, help me to see your plan for my life. Help me to see the importance that I have in your plan. Grant me the courage to say “yes” and live up to your plan for me.
