The Light of My Life

I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. – John 12:46

As a survivor of child sexual abuse, I lived in a world of darkness. There was not much about my childhood that makes me smile.

What I do remember was going to church. Church, and stories of Jesus, were sources of light for me in a childhood often spent in darkness.

When I became an adult, I kept looking for this light. I found the light in different churches. It was the Catholic Church that lit up my life the most. It was the Catholic Church that became my religious home. A home of life and joy.

Jesus, thank you for your Light and your Love. I no longer live in darkness. Amen.
