Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Simeon had been told by God that he would not see death until he had seen the Messiah. He lived in faith day after day, waiting for the Messiah. Totally trusting that he would see Him, totally trusting in God.

Simeon teaches us about patience and trust and faith. He never complained of the long wait.

I do not think of myself as a patient person. Yet when I have faced a big change in my life or if I have a big decision to make, I find I can be very patient. I just need to sit with Jesus and ask for help.

Simeon is a good role model. He was patient because he knew that God had asked him to wait. With God’s grace, he could do that. He had faith. He trusted in God. So he waited.

Jesus, help me to be patient like Simeon, when I too need to wait to see You or hear Your voice.
