Love with Mercy

“If you knew what this meant, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned these innocent men.  For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath.” – Mt 12:7-8

Here in this gospel, Jesus makes it clear that He wants us to love with mercy, not judgement. He wants us to love the way that He loves.

His disciples did not know Jesus. They did not know who He was. They did not understand who the Lord of the Sabbath was or what He meant by merciful love.

Do we?

Dear Jesus, help us to remember to love with mercy. Help us to refrain from judging others. And that includes loving ourselves as well. Amen.
