Do Not Be Afraid

So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. – Matthew 10:31

“So do not be afraid.”

Jesus tells us that a lot. In fact it is in the Bible over 300 times. I guess God knows we need that reassurance.

Do not be afraid.

We are not alone even though it feels that way sometimes. It feels that way a lot.

But if we look back, we can see all the times that God was when us even though it didn’t seem that way at the time. Even though we felt alone.

Perhaps we would feel less afraid if we listened for those words, if we were more aware of God’s presence. If we prayed more.

We have had many reasons to pray lately. The coronavirus and the financial hardships, all contribute to an atmosphere of fear in this country. In this world.

But we are not alone. God is with us. God will never abandon us. We can get through it all, if we pray and trust and hang onto each other.

And hang onto Him.

Lord, thank you for being with us always and helping us to be less afraid. – Amen.
